Barback/Runner – Carbondale, IL

Our barbacks do much more than just support our bartenders. They are an integral part of our team, helping to maintain our image through their hard work and dedication, and keeping our customers happy by making sure Chalky’s operates efficiently. Our barbacks work closely with our bartenders, gaining experience, and knowledge that will eventually allow them to pursue a career in bartending themselves. The Chalky’s team is known for delivering an exciting, and fun atmosphere with a focus on hospitality, and customer service. We are seeking dedicated, outgoing, and high-energy individuals to join our team as part-time and/or full-time barbacks. Experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Bartender support (assist bartenders with various tasks as needed)
• Organizing and shelving beer and liquor deliveries
• Prepping juices and mixes
• Stocking glasses, coasters, napkins, and straws
• Preparing garnishes
• Monitoring stations and restocking napkins, coasters, and straws
• Replacing kegs and retrieving bottles from the walk-in cooler
• Washing and restocking glassware, dishes and mixing tools
• Cleaning spills at the bar, tables, and floors
• Emptying trash and/or recycling bins
• Restocking bottles
• Wiping down bar and tabletops
• Washing shakers, blenders, and other prep equipment
• Removing trash and used glasses and wiping down tables for new customers
• Demonstrate excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
• Monitor stock levels, and alert management to potential shortages
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations and maintain related qualifications
• Maintain a clean personal appearance, and excellent hygiene

Requirements:

• Positive, outgoing attitude and a genuine desire to exceed customer expectations
• Ability to think and act quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Team player
• Able to reach and bend frequently and able to lift up to 30 pounds
• Must possess or be willing to obtain, and maintain all required licenses/certifications
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
• Must have a valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation
